Once you’ve decided to go to treatment, you’ll need to choose whether you attend an outpatient program or receive residential treatment. There are several advantages to spending your treatment time in a residential facility. Here are seven of those advantages.
1. The Treatment Program and Team
Our residential treatment program allows people to heal after withdrawal in an environment that is state-of-the-art, compassionate, secure and safe setting. Our highly qualified staff members offer support 24/7 to help our residents recover with the skills they need to survive and thrive. Our goals as a treatment team are to help our residents:
- -Explore who they are
- -Develop coping skills for emotional issues they’re having that may cause them to use, such as stress
- -Develop a personally healthy lifestyle
- -Develop and achieve long-term stability and sobriety by the time they leave the program
To produce consistently positive results, our residential treatment programs last from 30 to 90 days. The amount of time spent in rehab remains determined by the progress of the individual. Routine assessments of a client’s progress analyze whether the individual is ready to progress to the next stage of their treatment program.
What Do We Treat?
We treat a variety of issues related to addiction. Some of these include:
- -Reasons for drug abuse and chemical dependency
- -Anxiety
- -Psychiatric disorders
2. Residential Programs Allow You to Focus on Your Recovery
Immersion in a treatment program remains one of the main reasons to attend inpatient treatment. People who live at treatment can focus on their recovery program and treat the reasons for their addiction as well as get a handle on their addiction recovery. Plus, some studies show that people who live at a residential rehab facility may be more successful in the long term than those who attend addiction recovery programs and live at home. These statistics are especially significant for people who spend 90 days at a residential facility.
3. Withdrawal and Detox
If you need help recovering from chemical addiction, we have a detox program that can assist you in getting your substance of choice out of your system. You may spend from seven days to two weeks in detox while the chemical leaves your system, depending on the severity of the addiction. We have the medical staff needed to assist you in getting off your substance of choice safely and in a healthy way.
4. Treating a Psychological Addiction
The first part of treating a chemical addiction is to go through withdrawal and a detox program. Once detox is completed, the next step is to deal with the psychological addiction to drugs or behaviors. Our treatment program uses several types of recovery tools, like:
- -Medical treatment
- -Psychological treatment and individual counseling
- -Peer support and group counseling
- -Other activities and classes that prepare a person to go back out into the world and stay sober
5. Gender Specific Addiction Treatment
Rehab programs that work well center around the unique needs of the individuals treated. Gender-specific rehab allows people to focus on their treatment program without being distracted by sexual issues and distractions. Also, gender-specific treatment programs will enable each person to work on problems that are particular to their situations. Individuals are sometimes better able to bond over common gender-specific issues.
6. Group Therapy
Many treatment programs use a type of peer assistance rehab method called group therapy. This type of treatment may use a Higher Power based therapy like Alcoholics Anonymous and the 12 Steps as a model on which to base their groups. During group therapy sessions, individuals with a more extended period of recovery help newcomers to sort through their feelings, identify their triggers, and learn refusal skills while they regain their sober lifestyle. Many clients have indicated that the camaraderie and advice, plus the practical help they received during group therapy sessions were primarily responsible for their rehab treatment success and satisfaction.
7. Sober Living
A significant step in returning to society after going through a drug or behavioral treatment program is spending some time in a sober living program. Some addiction treatment programs require one facility for detoxing, another placement for addiction treatment, and a final placement elsewhere for sober living experience. Our program begins with detox, moves on to treatment and is finalized when our clients go to sober living. Our location in the beautiful Los Angeles area helps make treatment and sober living pleasant as they enjoy California’s temperate, sunny weather. Plus, sober living gives people the ability to be able to work or go to school while living in a drug-free, supportive environment. This experience allows them to practice what they’ve learned in treatment and put their new skills to good use.
Some of the activities in a sober living house include living in a house with others beginning to reintegrate into society, having required chores and responsibilities in the house, and still being able to attend group and other types of therapy. People who have the opportunity to have a sober living experience discover that they are more successful when they integrate back into the outside world. The sober living experience remains especially useful for people who have issues with chronic relapse. But everyone who participates in a sober living experience gets to develop good habits for a clean, sane life once they’ve been dismissed from their rehab program.
